Conversely, weak management teams often struggle to build a business out of even the best ideas.  For these reasons it is critical to identify monitor, and support the leadership team when starting or building a new venture.  At RPX Group we provide a number of management and leadership support services for early-stage companies.

Organizational Planning

Startups are often faced with organizational issues.  When is the right time to add a CFO, develop a regional sales structure, or hire a senior manager?  As developer, founders, managers, and funders of new ventures, RPX Group’s senior team helps its clients develop sound organizations through the business building and growth cycles.

Interim and Permanent Management

Over the years the RPX Group team has developed broad networks in the entrepreneurial community, both around our Chicago base and nationwide through our contacts at major business schools and leading angel investment groups.  This allows us to identify qualified candidates with relevant experience and an understanding of the challenges startups face.  We have located interim and permanent leaders for startups and have even a few times placed members of the firm at our clients.

Coaching & Mentoring

While we do not act as executive coaches per se, RPX Group Managing Directors often act as mentors or advisors to leaders at startups.  Typically our advice is focused on a specific task or goal such as improving presentations to investors or deal negotiation tactics.  We have also assisted in opening lines of communication between management team or board members.
